4 Snacks That Benefit Your Teeth

If you have to quench your thirst, Tuthi has you covered with our delicious range of teas. But what about when hunger strikes?

Check out these tips on snacks that will satisfy your cravings and also keep your teeth and gums in tip-top shape.

Fruits: did you know not all fruits are created equal? Although they are a wonderful alternative to processed junk, some of nature’s candy is stickier than others. Try to reach for fiber rich offerings like apples and strawberries, they help scrub away the plaque and don’t stick to your teeth like bananas do. Another thing to note, although dried fruits may seem like a great snack, be careful, as many of them have extra added sugar. Dried fruits also have way less moisture content in them making it easier for them to cling to your teeth.

Veggies: Carrots, celery and leafy greens like spinach make ideal savory snacks. Packed with Vitamins A, B, C and calcium they help give your gums a boost, reduce risk of cavities and give your body plenty of vitamins to keep you feeling your best.

Cheese: YUM! Cheese, along with low sugar dairy offerings like plain yogurt and milk are snack time superstars. Rich in calcium and phosphate, dairy products are just what your teeth crave. These yummy snacks help add minerals back to your teeth, helping make them stronger and more resistant to acid breakdown!

Sugar-less gum: For a sweet and refreshing treat, grab a piece of sugar-free gum. Gum sweetened with a naturally occurring sweetener called Xylitol is your best bet. Xylitol has been shown to reduce the amount if cavity-causing bacteria in the oral cavity. Another benefit to chewing gum is that it stimulates the production of saliva in your mouth, this helps strengthen your teeth, reduce the amount of acid in your mouth and clear away food!
