6 ways to improve dry mouth symptoms

There are several things that can contribute to dry-mouth, also known as xerostomia. The following are symptoms that you may experience with this condition.

  1. Altered taste to normal foods
  2. Cracked and peeling lips
  3. Bad breath
  4. Mouth sores
  5. Dry, burning feeling in mouth
  6. Trouble with wearing removable prosthetic appliances such as dentures

Certain changes in as a new medication, eating habits, infections, allergies and cancer therapies are some known causes of dry mouth. The good news however, is that there simple lifestyle changes that can be made to improve symptoms.

  1. Drink more water throughout the day
  2. Stop tobacco product intake
  3. Chew sugar-free gum or suck on sugar-free lozenges
  4. Discontinue use of mouth rinses containing alcohol
  5. Reduce caffeine intake
  6. Add moisture to the air with a humidifier
